I am a regular on the Poker Affiliate Listings Forum owned by my good friend Jeremy Enke, and at least once a day a Poker Affiliate posts wanting to know why he is getting 100 visits a day, but not making money and often times not getting signups. learn-seo-basics-long-tailWhen I first started out in poker affiliating, I was just like every other beginner – I had no idea how to make a website, I had no idea how to interpret html, and I had no idea how to SEO my site. Most importantly, I had no idea what to even make my site about. After mulling over some potential topics like poker for college players and a regional poker website, my partner (JeremyM) and I finally settled on creating a site all about poker sit and go’s.

basic-seo-theorySince I started this site I get daily requests to look at people’s websites, blogs, and portals and they always seem to have a few things in common. The first one is universal, they think their site is the next Poker Listings or Card Player. The truth is that most affiliates will never reach that point with their sites, and the exciting truth is they never have to and can still make high 6 or 7 figure incomes a year.

If you are a new poker affiliate, or even an affiliate that has been at it a while, you may find that you are making several easy to fix mistakes. Don’t worry, most of these mistakes are common and you are not the first one or the last one to do it. The one thing you need to get out of this article is the willingness to fix these issues and change the way you think.
