First off, I wrote most of this post on Sunday night, and got side tracked with more industry drama. So I guess this is “Poker Affiliate tip Friday” - I wanted to continue with the series of “Poker Affiliate Tips Monday’s” and come back this week and share some of the biggest mistakes I and many other new poker affiliates make. Keep in mind that when you start a website with the intention of making money online, then you are in reality starting a business. Like any business you need to have clear defined goals. Yeah its been a while since we put up a good post on here, the end of 2010 was a very busy time for us. Poker Affiliates and SEO’s had a serious challenge in 2010, we saw so many changes to the Poker Industry and the massive changes from Google, then introduction of the “new” bing engine, and the phasing out of Yahoo. News Flash – google owns the web and controls our Internet Businesses. Big news right? Most serious webmasters already know this and in turn spend 90% of their time optimizing for Google Web Search. If you are one of these people, you need to take a step back and realize you are forgetting about the remaining 20% of the web that uses Bing or Yahoo. Of course there is some small percentage of people still using AOL, Ask.com, etc – For now we will just assume they take up about 1% total. Note: Before I get 50 emails correcting my numbers, understand I’m estimating the last numbers.
Since this is the first article on this website, I thought we would chat about SEO in general. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the “Science” of optimizing your website for optimal exposure in the search engine’s (SE’s) in order to get your website to rank for specific keywords you are targeting. The fact is that keywords make you money and the point of almost all websites is to make money.
